He then led all present in the Pledge of Allegiance. All elected officials were present. Steve Schultz made a motion to approve the minutes from the September meeting and Bob Dieker seconded the motion. Motion carried with 6 ayes, 0 nays and 0 absent. Steve Schultz made a motion to approve the payment of bills and Jeff Hogge seconded the motion. Motion carried with 6 ayes, 0 nays and 0 absent. Deputy Greenwood from the Pike County Sheriff's office gave the police report. There were 4 arrests: 3 traffic and 1 misdemeanor. Mayor Rennecker stated that a zoning variance request was from Mark & Gayle Hoskins at 1181 Pratt Street. They need 3 additional feet to build a garage, Mayor Rennecker owns the property next to them and has no problem with this. Committee approved recommending this and the setback will be 7 ft. off of back instead of 10 ft. Steve Schultz made a motion to accept the committee recommendation and Debbie Harshman seconded the motion. Motion carried with 6 ayes, 0 nays and 0 absent. Council reviewed the swimming pool data that Mayor Rennecker put together. Parks & Recreation committee will have a meeting later. Melvin Gilbert gave the Public Works Director report. The Apple Festival went really good. Had to help people get their trailers and vehicles in and out of the park because of the rain. the fall clean-up is done. Had 4 dumpsters filled and the 5th one is still at the sewer plant. Melvin said that Sterling Hanlin had 4 1/2 hrs. extra for working during the Apple Festival and asked if he was to get paid for this or get comp time. Steve Schultz said to go ahead and pay him for this. Kelly Syrcle's water line is in and need to get straighten up by Betty Main's. The tube has been put in by where Gary Rennecker used to live. The City crew has been trying to get the Ducey house cleaned out. We are getting close to tearing it down. Melvin has been going to rehab for his shoulder. The doctor ordered 6 weeks therapy but workman's comp cut it down to 3 weeks. Lance Kendrick said he had been busy working on reports. We received deeds to Ducey and Lamberson properties. Lance received a time line from Frazier's as to when they will be finished on the house they are working on. He also talked with Sid Barrett and got a verbal response on when things will be done, but mot in writing. Have not heard anything from the owners of the Hartsock property. Ron Johnson has mowed and cleaned up some , but the vehicles are still there. We budgeted $11000 for summer help. Sterling Hanlin is still working and we have paid him $5544 and Lance asked if we keep him on. Bob Dieker said to keep him on if we have the money and could still use him. Council agreed to keep Sterling on. Council discussed the Ed Garvin alley closure request. Lance said if we give him an easement then our easement would not be in place. Melvin Gilbert, Robert Snyder and Kristy Jeffers are going to attend two different water classes to earn their CEU'S. Mayor Rennecker asked Council if we should renew Pike County Economic Development membership dues at a cost of $1385. The cost is based on population.
